Should I Buy a Blu-Ray Drive Today or Wait?

So, you woke up this morning, turned on Good Morning America on your new HDTV you bought yourself for Christmas, grabbed a steaming cup of coffee, and started perusing your mail. Bills, ads from politicians you’ve never heard of, junk mail, bills, EUREKA! Your Netflix is here! Which will it be? Which will it be? And you’re so excited about the prospect of finding out which movie you’ll be watching this evening that you don’t notice it slip in.

At first it’s just a musing, but by the time you get home from work it’s a roaring thunder. Once you’ve finally snuggled up next to your sweet booboos on the couch watching There Will Be Blood, it’s almost unbearable. Would this really be that much better if you were watching it on a Blu-Ray PC Drive? I mean, you dished out all that money for HDTV, and you really do enjoy the high definition shows you watch on cable. Don’t you need to make the jump to Blu-ray now that the format wars are over?

Am I Made of Money?

One of the first questions you may ask yourself when considering if you should throw in your DVD player for a Blu-ray Drive is, “Am I a person who owns a fleet of helicopters?” If you can answer yes to that question, then read no further. No self-respecting helicopter-fleet owner should be without a Bly-Ray Hard Drive. Send your personal shopper out to purchase one right this minute.

On the other hand, if you have a finite amount of resources, and you’re just sort of toying around with the idea of what you should spend your stimulus check on, money is certainly a consideration. You can almost always save money if you wait, but should you? A new Blu-ray Drive will currently run you between $300-$1000. Unfortunately for you, due to the end of the competition provided by the format wars, it doesn’t look like those prices are dropping anytime soon. So, unless you’re willing to wait a couple of years, now might be the time.

Will A Blu-ray Drive Work With My Television?

It is VERY important to remember that unless you have an HDTV capable of taking advantage of the resolution provided by your Blu-ray Drive, it will not work. If you are unsure about your television, ask your television manufacturer.

Can I Watch What I Want On a Blu-ray Drive?

Blu-ray maintains a list of all the titles available on their website. Check it out at www.blu-ray.com. There are many titles available and they’ve been re-encoded to take advantage of the resolution available on your new Blu-ray Drive. But if there’s nothing that you want to watch, you could be pretty disappointed if you shell out the cash today and find out tonight that you can’t watch your favorite movie.

Do You Have Children?

Are you a proud mother or father? Do you want your son or daughter to mean it when they say they love you? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, you should immediately go to Sony’s website and purchase a Playstation 3. Not only is it a Blu-ray Drive, it is the gaming system your children dream about owning and is currently available for about $399.99. Don’t forget to buy an extra controller so that you get to join in on the fun!
